Course Description:

Aims

The dissertation is a significant academic endeavour that seeks to prepare students for advanced roles in their careers and/or further academic pursuits. It enables students to showcase their understanding and expertise in a discipline specific area, develop and refine their research, academic writing and communication skills and encourages them to address complex health issues and find appropriate solutions.

Learning Outcomes

After completing the module the student should be able to:

  1. Critically synthesise material from various sources in order to identify, define and defend an appropriate research question
  2. Critically apply methodological rigour in the use of appropriate methods and techniques for problem analysis and investigation
  3. Critically evaluate the implications of research findings
  4. Communicate research findings effectively through clear, structured, and well-reasoned academic writing using agreed standards of convention
