Course Description:

Aims

This module provides students with the knowledge and tools to understand and interpret research data to inform their public health practice. It will also develop their skills as a potential producer of research, including understanding data collection and analysis methods for primary and secondary research.

Learning Outcomes

After completing the module the student should be able to:

  1. Understand the role of different research methods in informing contemporary public health practice
  2. Identify, utilise and critique research evidence
  3. Understand and interpret the results of numerical and non-numerical data analysis
  4. Understand the ethical dimensions of research
  5. Effectively plan a programme of research
