Aims
The aim of this module is to equip MSc students with a comprehensive understanding of key public health theories, frameworks and practical skills to address real world challenges. This module is designed to develop a student's ability to: 1) critically analyse how multifaceted determinants of health contribute to health inequalities, 2) apply data driven approaches to identify and assess public health challenges, 3) evaluate innovative public health interventions that address contemporary issues and 4) develop evidence-based solutions and recommendations to improve health and reduce health inequalities.
Learning Outcomes
After completing the module the student should be able to:
- Critically analyse a broad range of foundational concepts, theories and frameworks that are fundamental to public health practice in a national and international context
- Critically assess how social, economic, political and environmental factors shape health outcomes and contribute to health inequalities
- Critically evaluate the impact of health policies and interventions on the reduction of health inequalities
