Course Description:

Aims

The module aims to provide learners with a comprehensive overview of how to practically apply leadership concepts and theory and will encourage learners to build their own personal leadership brand. The module will explore how wider environmental developments in technology, ethical and sustainability awareness and social and cultural shifts have all impacted the role of the leader within organisations. Learners will consider how the role of the leader has developed over time and will reflect on what the future of leadership looks like in an increasingly digital environment.

Learning Outcomes

After completing the module the student should be able to:

  1. Learners will be able to critically evaluate the importance of leadership theory and practice and its role within complex contemporary organisations
  2. Learners will be able to critically analyse the role of good leadership practice in both the internal environment, working with and influencing teams, stakeholders, and managers and in the external environment considering cultures, markets and sustainable decision-making
  3. Learners will develop the ability to create their own leadership style, considering ethical and valuesbased leadership practices, leader responsibilities and personal leadership branding
