Course Description:

Aims
To engage in independent and critical thinking, and to develop and engage with the theoretical concepts and apply them to the world.
To develop the ability to present and defend arguments and interpretations in an appropriate and scholarly manner.
To understand global events from the state, non-state and international perspectives.

Learning Outcomes
After completing the module the student should be able to:
1 Demonstrate a critical understanding of the major concepts and theories relating to international relations including power, the international system, globalisation and the international political economy.
2 Critically analyse the events, processes, relationships, institutions and key actors involved in international politics.
3 Apply a critical understanding of the competing concepts and theories relating to patterns of international co-operation and conflict to historical and contemporary events.
4 Analyse global events from the state, non-state and international perspectives.
